So it’s begun, as the new speaker declares the most honest and open congress ever, she elects the most corrupt to represent her, including a judge impeached for taking bribes from drug dealers. In an effort to deter war another democrat insists his 12 year goal of reinstating the draft becomes reality. Hordes of liberals are today quoting the ranting of a possibility senile Kissinger who is barely aware the cold war is over and John Kerry is back in front of a microphone explaining how regardless to his missteps he is still the de-facto democratic leader... as he pushes out a somewhat rudderless swift boat toward 2008.
No, we didn’t get what we voted for, but then not many expected such a thing. No, the spirit of American optimism suggested we give people a chance, for the change that they insisted they could bring. Perhaps we needed an awakening, a reason to look beyond the polls and blogs, as we bring intelligence if not diligence back to politics... But perhaps that is not possible these days as spin and ideological divisions become thick headed fortresses around which the closed minded toss out platitudes and charges of whatever web-site commands them. Perhaps the ability to elect leaders has been stolen by those that crown themselves “kingmakers”. With their eyes glazed over, web bound lemmings prove only that clicking the links and urls of “safeharbor” ideas and passing such things around is a form of politics they can be a part of... a show in which they, in solitude can pretend, if not being... are at least consulting with the wizard of their inner OZ.
I soundly reject that such zombie politics will see the light of another election... For this time, people are seeing beyond the politics and assessing the reality of actions. If what is joking called leadership continues in its present form, we can all thank Nancy for the quick lesson of what 12 years of planning in the ranks of the DNC has brought us.
On with show people, it's oversold and the world is watching...
